I'm happy to be joining the Hospice Board. I grew up in Halifax, N.S., and graduated from Dalhousie Medical School in 1974. Interning in Victoria brought me to the West Coast. I did a few locums in Victoria for a year, then did full service, cradle-to-grave family practice in Vancouver for 38 years. We moved full-time to Gibsons in 2012. Our 4 kids and the grandkids are glad we did! I liken hospice/palliative care to maternity care and delivery. It seems that at both ends of life, the things that really matter are stripped down. Providing care in those times is rewarding and memorable, and I think it will be good to contribute to the hospice end of that spectrum.

Providing compassionate care to individuals facing end-of-life and their families since 1987. Whether at the hospital, in your home, or in one of the four temporary hospice rooms at Silverstone Care Centre, we are here to support you. We also offer programs and services for grief support, bereavement, and advance care planning, with the assistance of trained community volunteers. In partnership with Vancouver Coastal Health, we are working towards opening the Coast’s first dedicated residential hospice in 2026.
