Lights of Life

A Sunshine Coast Hospice holiday tradition since 1992

Lights of Life provides an opportunity for the public to pause and reflect on the memory of their loved one(s) during the busy holiday season.

Throughout December, Hospice volunteers host booths in public locations such as Sunnycrest Mall in Gibsons, Trail Bay Mall in Sechelt, or IGA in Pender Harbour. At the tables, we provide ornaments for passersby to write a loving tribute, or simply the names of their loved one(s) who have died, and hang it on the tree. On New Years’ Day, the hundreds of ornaments are gathered and then brought to a ceremonial public beach bonfire event called Lighting of the Memories.

While visiting the Lights of Life tables, volunteers are there to create a safe space for people to remember and talk about memories of loved one(s), share how they are coping with grief, or learn about the services we offer.

Lights of Life event details will be posted to our website in November.
