Annie Rodgers

Director

Annie is a retired marketing and communications professional with over 30 years experience working with corporate, municipal and non-profit organizations. Annie’s key skills include strategic marketing planning, public and media relations, project and event management, sponsorship, volunteer management and internal communications.

She spent the last 20 years of her career working as the Manager of Marketing & Communications & Special Initiatives for the North Vancouver Recreation & Culture Commission, serving the City & District of North Vancouver. This organization managed seven community recreation centres and Centennial Theatre and was responsible for the planning and delivery of all community recreation and culture programs and services in North Vancouver.

Annie’s passion is community service and improving the lives and well-being of community members. She served on a number of non-profit boards and municipal advisory committees and has been an active volunteer in her community.

Annie moved to the Sunshine Coast six years ago and is an active volunteer with the Sunshine Coast Hospice Society, the Sunshine Coast Festival of the Written Arts, One Straw Society and the Sunshine Coast Restorative Justice Society.

As a Hospice volunteer, she has been a companion, mentored new volunteers, led a grief walking program, assisted with events and new volunteer training and is currently working with the Education and Outreach Committee on a new education workshop focussed on providing individuals with skills and strategies for navigating a life-changing diagnosis.

She is interested in joining the Hospice Board of Directors for a number of reasons. She is deeply committed to the goals and vision of Hospice and after volunteering for three years, she believes she has a solid understanding of the organization, its services and the life changing impact of Hospice services in our community.

Annie is especially interested in contributing to the organization’s growth and transformation as it builds capacity and prepares to open a dedicated hospice facility, and is also looking for a new challenge and opportunity to use her marketing and communications skills and continue to develop her leadership.

We also offer programs and services for grief support, bereavement, and advance care planning, with the assistance of trained community volunteers. In partnership with Vancouver Coastal Health, we are working towards opening the Coast’s first dedicated residential hospice in 2026.
