Douglas Baker

Director

Doug was born and raised in Vancouver and graduated UBC Forestry in 1973, working as a Forester in Williams Lake for two years.  He returned to UBC Law, graduated, and practiced law in Vancouver and Burnaby for 20 years, primarily family and personal injury law.  He was appointed to the Supreme Court of BC as a Master (similar to a Provincial Court Judge) in 1998, serving in Prince George for nine years and then Vancouver until retirement in 2019.

Doug married Gail Hunt in 1975 and has four children and four grandchildren (and one on the way).

He has served in numerous community associations (sports, school, arts, and community service) in Burnaby and North Vancouver as a director.

Doug and Gail moved to the Sunshine Coast and built their house in 2010 and, being a family of builders, have for several years been building a cabin with our children on Loon Lake, near Cache Creek.  That and learning banjo and mandolin, together with grandchild minding (whenever we get the chance) fills their days.
